Mythological Belief:

The origin of the Kumbh Mela comes from Samudra Manthan (Churning of the Ocean). According to the Puranas (Hindu mythological texts), Hindu gods and demons churned the ocean to obtain the Nectar of Immortality. During this churning, the pot filled with the nectar spilled in Prayagraj, Nashik, Haridwar, and Ujjain. These four locations became sacred, and bathing in these rivers is believed to purify the soul.

Cultural and Religious Unity:

The Kumbh Mela represents the term “Unity in Diversity.” Pilgrims from all over India and abroad come together to take part in the “Kumbh Snan.” Millions of people from all over the world join together to take the holy bath. This mass gathering can even be seen from satellites.
